ALEXANDRIA BOWEN
Art/Photography/Music Editor
I am an English major with an emphasis in Technical Writing. My favorite novel is East of Eden by John Steinbeck and my favorite movies include anything directed by Quentin Tarantino or Martin Scorsese. My favorite author would have to be Flannery O' Connor. I hope to one day either teach English as a second language or English literature or perhaps, become an editor. My dream is to open my own art studio where I could teach others to paint and sketch in order to spread the joy of art.
Zachary Gay is an indecisive young man who just recently switched his major back to English, after a brief stint in EKU’s Computer Science program. He didn’t learn much from Pre-Calculus, aside from the fact that he has no chance of grasping higher mathematics. And he sort of gets what a radian is now, but only vaguely. His biggest literary influence is Douglas Adams, which is a nicer way of saying that he’s a poor man’s Douglas Adams, which is still pretty complementary relative to the truth. The bulk of his writing consists of online forum posts that he takes far too much pride in, but he does churn out a decent short story from time to time. He also knows way too much about the history of KFC.
Other authors he enjoys include Kurt Vonnegut, David Morrell, and John Grisham, but there are probably a dozen he likes just as much and can’t think of right now. His favorite TV shows are King of the Hill and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. At the time of writing, his most anticipated film is Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but he thinks Age of Ultron looks like it’ll be pretty swell too.
RENEE MILLS
Poetry Editor/Party Planning Committee
Renee Mills is a Junior English major with hopes of becoming an author and/or editor in the future. In her free time she enjoys hanging out with my wonderful sisters (shoutout to AOII!), reading, writing, hiking, exercising, going to Cookout, and quoting The Office. Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica.
JOSH MOBERLY
Creative Non-Fiction Editor/Social Media Manager
"I'm a writer of grand scale and scope. Of genres ranging from the literary to the weird. I aspire to great heights, and dream of one day being as well known in the Fantasy scene as JRR Tolkien and George RR Martin. I aspire to one day best Steven King in terms of output, and like him tell tales set within a single expansive multiverse ranging from the dawn of humanity, and into the far future. I also on occasion write a piece of creative nonfiction when the desire to tell a tale from my life strikes my fancy.
Until then I tend my humble trade where and when I can, and can often be found rambling around Eastern Kentucky University's campus, going on epic quests to the local book store, or staying at home writing while sipping on white russian as The Big Lebowski plays on my DVD player.
Currently I am a senior creative writing major at EKU and serve on the editorial staff of EKU's premier literary and arts journal, Aurora, as the chief creative nonfiction editor. Aside from that I manage Aurora's social media presence, notify professors of our journal, and personally oversee our official Facebook page."
